Dr Karren Plain is a Research Fellow with the University of Sydney. She completed a PhD at the University of NSW on the molecular and cellular mechanism of organ graft survival. Her early work examined aspects of the immune response associated with tolerance to transplanted tissues. Dr Plain’s has worked for the past 10 years on Johne’s disease with the Farm Animal and Veterinary Public Health group at the University of Sydney. This has encompassed diagnostic test development and she was one of the principle scientists involved in the development of a new molecular diagnostic test for the disease (the HT-J test).
